The head of a dragonfly is primarily comprised of its compound eyes, which contain 30,000 facets, each bringing in information about the insect’s surroundings that provide a near 360-degree vision. The spherical field of vision allows the dragonfly to still keep an eye on you after they have flown by.

Damselflies and dragonflies are closely related and may look alike, but one noticeable difference is that the damselfly has more space between its eyes.
