The Robber fly, also called the assassin fly, preys on a wide range of other insects, including ants, beetles, butterflies and moths, bees, dragonflies, flies, grasshoppers and spiders. The robber fly will perch in various locations and attack when its prey flies by and are one of the few insects that catch their prey in mid-flight.
